Jim Barrett is the author of
"A Manual for the Mounted Officer" and
"Steady Your Spooky Horse."
These two books are unique in the world of horsemanship because they bring to the riders two very important concepts – the significance of SPACE, POSITION and MOVEMENT (S.P.A.M.™) and the HORSE SENSORY TRAINING SYSTEM (H.S.T.S.™).
Both of these concepts are trend setters in explaining ways that riders can become safer in their day-to-day rides and become more connected to their mounts.
Jim is a retired Sheriff’s Department Captain who has spent over 30 years riding and training police horses.
He is a founding board member and first president of the California Mounted Officers Association.
Jim is also a certified Richard Shrake trainer/ instructor.
